Type Locality and Naming

SW Algeria. It is well exposed at Oued Samene (Wendt et al., 2006).

Synonym: Dkhissa Fm (usage in Reggane Basin). Les Gres d'Idjorane Fm (local facies variant in its lower part in the Ahnet Basin)

Lithology and Thickness

The Oued Samene Formation is made up of massive sandstone, and it is laterally equivalent to the upward succession of the Zemlet Fm, Saheb El Djir Fm, and Dhkissa Fm of the Reganne Basin (Perron et al., 2019).
